My story
My name is Yves ERICHOT. My business, Iron Designs, offers original custom metal creations from small to large items. While metal is a fine art medium for me, my goal is quality along with originality in every piece. I prefer working with clients to provide the right original design for their needs and desires. I find inspiration for my designs in books or just by looking around at home and in my travels.
I was born in Martinique, an island in the French West Indies, but I moved to Fredericksburg in 1997 from France where I lived for 14 years. In France I learned the basics of welding and metal construction as I worked in the industrial sector. I have continued my education on my own and on the job.
Advantages I offer over ready-made pieces, along with individualized design and custom fit, are strength and durability. Among the unique iron pieces I've built over the years are stair railings, tables, candle holders, lamps, towel bars, fireplace screens, signage, beds, gates, fences, chandeliers, curtain rods and other accessories.
My workshop is located in the nice town of Fredericksburg in the Texas Hill Country where I find much of my inspiration, originality and motivation and where I have lived in a quiet environment with my wife since 1997.
